The Ann & James Story

A few years ago we met each other, when neither one of us was looking...

I was officially single for the first time in a while and had been traveling for business in Florida for about a month. I have to admit that beyond the work I was honestly enjoying the beach and the sun. Upon returning to Raleigh I had just moved in with a new roommate, another single guy. It was going to be the summer of fun and both of us were looking forward to a wild few months. Little did I know that it was about to get much wilder then I ever imagined.

So after being away for basically 4 weeks for business I came home for JUST 3-4 days to get some more clothing, check my mail, pay bills, and rest. I was scheduled to head back out a few days later. On the second day back I was invited to a concert with my roommate, a girl he was seeing at the time, and a bunch of her friends. Since I had been away for so many weeks I was up for doing anything in my "home market". The concert was a big outdoor music festival with multiple bands,  We had planned an all day party that surrounded the events of the concert. I only knew a few of his female companion's friends.

A few hours before the show everyone started to arrive at our apartment in Raleigh. It was a fun, easy going party. Jello shots had been made (yummy), lots of beer, liquor, and food. Everyone was hanging out (about 20 of us). I was getting ready, meeting people, and having a good time. Hell, I had been away so much for business that I felt like a guest in my own apartment.

As everyone was getting ready to finally leave for the concert one other friend showed up at the last minute. I did not know her, but she was beautiful. Introductions were done all around and off we went to the concert. As it turned out we sat next to each other in one of the many cars that caravanned to the concert. We immediately hit it off. We laughed and talked as if we had known each other for years.

For the rest of the concert and day we were together almost the entire time. It was amazing. Friends we saw at the show asked us "how long we had been dating?", which was funny because we had only met hours before. We spent the entire few days I was home talking and spending time together. We had so much in common, similar experiences, and an incredible amount of mutual attraction.

What was funny was that both of us were at a point in our lives where we had absolutely no desire to get into any type of serious relationship. Both of us were excited and actually looking forward to being "single" for a little while. But fate had it different for us. From that first meeting we were inseparable and that has never changed. We got married in an amazing beach wedding, have bought a home together, have a great dog, and a baby on the way! Friends still tell us today that from the first day we met - they knew that we were going to get married.

We both agree that it is amazing how "right" life feels when you realize exactly what you were missing previously in your life. When it all falls into place and you meet the one person in the world for you - it really is amazing.

We never seem to stop laughing together.
